Introduction to Thermal and Chemical EOR Modelling with STARS
Location:
London
Cost:
$400 GBP per day
Date(s):
Wednesday, 5 April, 2017 - 09:00 to Friday, 7 April, 2017 - 16:30
Wednesday, 8 November, 2017 - 09:00 to Friday, 10 November, 2017 - 16:30

Learn about thermal EOR modelling and chemical flooding simulation with alkaline, surfactants, and/or polymers (ASP) using CMG STARS technology.

In the first part of the course, you will learn the various facets of thermal EOR modelling including:

  • Component design
  • Thermal properties
  • Relative permeability interpolation

Build your expertise through a series of hands-on exercises on steam flood and cyclic steam stimulation (CSS) applications.

In the second part of the course, the focus will switch to chemical EOR modelling with STARS, with emphasis on Alkali, Surfactant, Polymer (ASP) modelling. You will learn:

  • How to build a typical chemical flooding dataset
  • How to History Match an ASP coreflood model using CMG CMOST (uncertainty assessment package)

The chemical EOR session will highlight the most up to date functionalities in CMG STARS for chemical EOR modelling, including shear, salinity and pH-dependent effects as well as geochemistry.

This course provides engineers, geologists and other technical personnel with the information and techniques required to build a simple STARS dataset and explore complex STARS functions in the area of Thermal and Chemical EOR modelling.
