Key Responsibilities

A key requirement for the successful candidate is:

  • A good working knowledge of reservoir simulation software e.g. CMG’s IMEX, GEM, or STARS; Eclipse; or other similar products.

The successful candidate will:

  • Become very proficient with CMG’s software suite, including the graphical pre- and post-processor.
  • Play an active role in supporting CMG clients who use the software for a variety of challenging and leading-edge petroleum reservoir recovery processes
  • Teach basic reservoir simulation training courses to CMG clients.
  • Become part of an international consulting team and work on conventional, unconventional, thermal, chemical, compositional and energy transition reservoir studies.
  • Assist, work and learn from senior reservoir engineers on consulting reservoir simulation studies
  • Will get an opportunity to develop broad knowledge and expertise in simulating various enhanced oil and gas recovery processes.
  • Develop knowledge and expertise in emerging energy transition topics such as subsurface and wellbore modelling of CCS/CO2 Sequestration, geothermal, hydrogen storage, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education
An Undergraduate or a Master’s/PhD degree in Petroleum, Chemical, or Energy Engineering.

Knowledge & Skills

  • This is a technical role that will require a good understanding of reservoir engineering concepts, enhanced recovery methods and reservoir simulation concepts.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills and a collaborative approach towards clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, results focused team player with a positive attitude and ability to multi-task in a dynamic work environment.
  • Basic level programming skills in python, and visual basic preferred.
  • Ability to clearly advise clients on technical matters.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art engineering software.
  • Hands-on experience with CMG simulation software or any other reservoir simulator is an asset.
  • Require minimal supervision, and have very good time management and communication skills both in written and verbal English.
  • Working proficiency of company standard MS Windows and associated office productivity software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • APEGA membership, Engineer in Training Status or P. Eng.
  • Be customer focused, learn about the business to help bring value to our customers
  • Team focused with a positive attitude, must be self-motivated, and have very good time management and communication skills both in written and verbal English.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience recommended.
  • Experience in advanced processes such as solvent-aided recovery methods or emerging energy transition processes (CCS, geothermal) is an asset.
